If you have surface stains on your teeth, you are most likely interested in finding ways to minimize or eliminate them effectively. There are several teeth whitening enhancements that can be administered naturally. Here are some ways to whiten teeth with items you can find in your home or buy in a grocery store.

Check The Fruit Bowl

Head to your kitchen table, refrigerator, or the produce section in a grocery store to find strawberries and bananas. Each of these will proactively whisk away surface stains with a rubbing method. Use the interior of a banana peel directly on the affected teeth. The magnesium and potassium will naturally rub away some of the discoloration on the teeth. Place a strawberry in a bowl and use a fork to turn it into a pulpy consistency. Place this directly on the fronts of the teeth while tilting your hand back so it doesn't fall off. Do this for a minute or two. Rinse well afterward. The malic acid in the berries will be transmitted to the teeth, fading some of the stains as a result.

Look In The Kitchen Cabinet

Baking soda will remove surface stains from teeth very quickly. Make a paste by mixing equal parts baking soda and water in a small bowl. Add more baking powder if it is too runny for your liking. Use this as an addition to your brushing routine to remove stains. Because of the intensity of this treatment, it should be limited to once every week or two. It should also only be administered for about a minute at a time as it can wear away the enamel layer in addition to stains if left in place too long.

Head To The Bathroom

Hydrogen peroxide works naturally at removing stains from the teeth when used as a mouthwash. Simply put it in your mouth and swish around for several seconds. Make sure to spit it out and rinse out your mouth with water afterward. The taste may be bitter, but it is not harmful for the teeth or mouth at all. Do this regularly to eliminate stains.

Make A Few Changes

Instead of drinking or eating acidic beverages and foods known for staining, switch to clear liquids and healthier food options. Stay away from coffee, tea, and red wine as these are some of the liquids known to cause heavy staining on dental work and healthy tooth surfaces. Avoid smoking if possible, as this will discolor teeth as well. Brush the teeth after each meal to help ward off discoloring.
